The MCLL Department, the Music Department, the CLAS Department, and the College of Arts & Humanities is proud to welcome the Chilean author, composer, filmmaker and former political prisoner of the Pinochet Dictatorship, Claudio Durán (a.k.a. Quique Cruz) to Fresno State on 9/10 and 9/11.

Lecture/workshop on memory, aesthetics and terror, music and multidisciplinary creation by Claudio Durán (a.k.a. Quique Cruz), including readings and discussion of his book Memorias de un ex-jugador de ajedrez / Memories of an Ex-chess Player.

Screening of documentary film Archeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi.

Lecture/demonstration on the relationship of music and narrative in film-making, and ancient elements in modern Latin American music by Claudio Durán, the film's co-director.
