Work Sample Workshop and Performance Accountability Workshop
June
10 - 11, 2004 -
Kansas
City Airport Hilton
The Renaissance Group will sponsor a two-day workshop for teacher educators, school practitioners and university assessment coordinators on June 10-11 who would like to learn how to use teacher work samples as a tool for teacher preparation, performance assessment and accountability.
At the workshop experienced professionals from the Renaissance Partnership for Improving Teacher Quality will share what they have learned over the past four years in developing and implementing teacher work samples and accountability systems. The two-day workshop will offer two sets of experiences, one track more focused on the use of teacher work samples and the second track more focused on accountability systems that address NCATE standards. Participants will have the option of remaining in one group or alternate between two workshop participant groups as different topics are presented.
At the workshop participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about key elements of the Renaissance Teacher Work Sample
- Experience scoring a work sample using a rubric and scoring guide
- Learn how Renaissance Partner institutions have scaled up the use and adoption of teacher work samples in teacher preparation programs
- Learn how to establish validity and reliability of teacher work samples and other performance assessments
- Learn how teacher work samples are used to support accountability for teacher performance and impact on P-12 student learning
- Learn about ongoing research linking performance on teacher work samples with short- and long-term P-12 student learning
