DESCRIPTION The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Raising the Bar through Research, Reflections, and Resources will provide AAPI students and the campus community exposure to various research studies conducted on our campus focusing on our AAPI student data, e.g., retention rates, graduation rates, and barriers to academic success. A panel of AAPI professionals in the community will share their experiences - barriers and successes - as first-generation college students who had to balance between expectations from their community and the aspirations to reach their goals. Students will also learn about various resources on campus that will encourage better engagement on campus and develop a sense of purpose and belonging. Further, the event will jump-start a mentoring program on campus between professional faculty, staff, community leaders and AAPI students.
