A collaboration between SUSD and California State University, Fresno

The T.A.R.G.E.T program partnering with the Rehabilitation Counseling Department at California State University, Fresno is designed to assist qualified students with documented physical, communicative, psychological, or learning disabilities succeed in select college classes while receiving individualized counseling and academic tutoring sessions.

It is the TARGET programs mission to provide individuals with disabilities the ability to recognize and achieve potential as independent members of the community by maximizing their ability to lead independent and productive lives.

While students are enrolled in the TARGET Program they will  be exposed to the following topics:

  • Adaptation to Change
  • Study Skills/Techniques
  • Goal Setting
  • Diversity
  • Time/Financial Management
  • Career planning
  • Communication Skills
  • Human Sexuality
  • Wellness
  • Work Experience
  • Community Involvement
  • Development of Positive Leisure Activities

 

Services Available:

  • Transportation provided by Sanger Unified School District to CSUF
  • Therapeutic Horticulture involvement toward developing social skills
  • One-on-One mentorship from highly skilled counselors enrolled in the CSUF Rehabilitation Counseling Program
  • Selected CSUF courses designed toward independent living skills and leisure skill development
  • Weekly tutorial times provided for academic support by CSUF counselors
  • Students will learn valuable work related skills through hands-on experience at various campus locations
  • Hand selected Kinesiology courses to support health and wellness
  • Registration Assistance
  • Weekly Academic Tutorials
  • Agency Referrals
  • Note Taking Support
  • Assistance with test taking
