Advising the Liberal Studies Program
Navigating through the Liberal Studies program can be complex. Students are encouraged to meet with any of our Liberal Studies advisors at least once a semester to insure steady and accurate progress toward graduation.
Advisors are available 12 months of the year to assist current and prospective students regarding the Liberal Studies major, as well as the Multiple Subject Credential (elementary teaching), Single Subject Credential (middle and high school teaching), and the Education Specialist Credential (special education teaching) programs.
Students who may have advisors with EOP, CAMP, UMS, International Students, Athletics and Smittcamp Honors programs will receive guidance for matters relative to their individual programs. However, all students must meet with their Liberal Studies advisor to receive advising for the major.
Appointments are conducted in 30-minute sessions and can be scheduled by coming in to the Education Student Services Center located in the Education Building, room 100, or by phone, (559) 278-0300.
Note: it is possible to see an advisor without an appointment during our walk-in periods on a first-first-come-first-served basis. However, due to advisors' additional scheduled responsibilities, it is highly recommended that those interested in trying to be seen on a walk-in basis call the day before to make sure that walk-in times will be available. Please arrive early to sign up to be seen.
Students who reside out of the area and/or are planning to attend in the future may elect to meet with their high school counselor, local community college, or University Outreach Services.
