“ Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.“ These were words once spoke by Marian Wright Edelman. Whether you choose to become and elementary teacher, a special education teacher, or perhaps pursue a career in an area such as law, medicine or social services, the Liberal Studies major will give you a strong, broad and diversified foundation of education.
As one of the largest majors at California State University, Fresno, the Liberal Studies degree seeks to develop in students an appreciation and understanding of the arts, the sciences, the humanities, and the various cultures that compose our ever changing area. A study of the liberal arts teaches ways of thinking, exploring, and understanding the world from the perspective of others. It is an excellent preparation for teachers and for others seeking careers in various fields of public service.
