San Joaquin Valley Mathematics Project

San Joaquin Valley Mathematics Project

Since its inception in 1989, the San Joaquin Valley Mathematics Project (SJVMP) has provided a stimulating and supportive professional home for K-12 mathematics teachers and university faculty residing in the Central Valley of California. The SJVMP offers summer leadership development institutes and winter leadership retreats designed to help K-12 teachers become more knowledgeable and effective instructors of mathematics. SJVMP supports the early professional growth of preservice math teachers as well! Fresno State students are invited to participate in SJVMP-supported events such as the Celebration of Women in Mathematics, Summer STEM Academy, Math Circles, CGI Workshops, and evening events (e.g., presentation by Kevin Dykema, President of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics). A recently-funded NSF Noyce Track 3 proposal, Mathematics Master Teacher Leaders, will support the development of the next generation of SJVMP teacher-leaders. The main office for the SJVMP is located in Room 220D of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development.
