Tyler Howell was born in raised in Fresno, and is a graduate of Buchanan High School, where where he played in the Buchanan Jazz band "A" under the direction of Paul Shaghoian, and later Paul Lucckesi. He has studied piano since the age of seven and continues playing, now as a member of the Fresno State Jazz Orchestra. Tyler is currently pursuing a degree in biology at Fresno State and plans to enter the medical field. He returns to 90.7 KFSR after living for two years in Costa Rica. He loved being among the people and learning the Spanish language. Tyler's favorite jazz artists include Maria Schneider, Brad Mehldau, Bill Evans, The Yellowjackets, Kenny Garrett, and Miles Davis.
