Born and raised in Fresno Bob comes to KFSR with a very musical background, his father was long time and well known Fresno band leader Ralph Manfredo and Bob has been playing drums since he was 15. "I was my Dad's backup drummer, but when I started playing professionally in my late teens he had to get permission if we were working where alcohol was being served because his drummer was under age." One of Bob's most memorable experiences was in 1971 during a trip to Disneyland. "We were at the Carnation Plaza where they always had live entertainment but this time it was Mel Torme backed by………Buddy Rich and his band!!" Can you imagine what it was like, this 15 year-old kid who just started taking drum lessons and gets to see the greatest drummer in the world in person??? Talk about a BIG influence!!
Bob is also a veteran broadcaster with 36 years behind the mike under his belt. He’s worked at numerous radio stations in Fresno and the Valley. He just recently returned to Fresno in 2009 after living and working in Los Angeles for 24 years. "It was my dream to be on the air in LA and one of the stations I was fortunate enough to work for was legendary jazz station KBCA/KKGO." I was trained there by the "Granddaddy" of jazz DJs Chuck Niles, I couldn't believe it!!!
Bob also does voice-over work from his home studio and production company.
You can hear Bob Manfredo on 90.7 KFSR every Friday from 9:00 AM until noon.
