Brief Introductory Statement:
Dr. Susan Rodriguez served as a research fellow at the Viticulture and Enology Research
Center, a part time instructor for the Department of Viticulture and Enology, and
the manager of the Wine Sensory Laboratory at VERC - through which she and her team
provided services to the wine industry. Rodriguez has extensive research experience,
including positions as Assistant Professor at Cornell University; Research Microbiologist
at USDA's Western Regional Research Center in Albany, CA; Senior Scientist at DSIR,
New Zealand; research microbiologist with E & J Gallo Winery in Modesto. Her research
covers metabolism of lactic acid bacteria and yeast in wine through flow cytometry
with antibodies; identification of grapevine truck diseases through characterization
of xylem sap; wine sensory evaluation; mycotoxins in nuts. She has co-authored over
20 research publications.
