Potential candidates who will be applying for the DICAS spring 2024 match – the program designation will provide a 30-unit master of science degree and a minimum of 1,000 experiential supervise practice hours combined over a two-year period.

The Department of Nutrition and Food Science will continue to offer a separate stand alone MS program in Nutritional Sciences. The MS program is for:

  • Students wishing to complete an MS degree prior to applying to non-degree granting Dietetic Internship programs
  • Preparing students for careers in college teaching, healthcare, industry, community agencies, or graduate study beyond the master’s degree

Program Description

The California State University, Fresno Dietetic Internship is a two-year, full-time, unpaid program with a culturally competent health promotion/disease prevention concentration (that includes a 40-hour-a-week, unpaid internship for 9 months). This internship prepares graduates to serve the diverse needs of the San Joaquin Valley and beyond. Interns complete supervised practice experiences in a variety of facilities in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California, including a veterans' hospital, a state prison, a school district, two private hospitals, an out-patient diabetes program and cooperative extension.
