About Us

Health Promotion & Wellness Services

Our Health Promotion and Wellness Services Department promotes knowledgeable decision making for good health and disease prevention.

Located at the Wellness Resource Center within the Student Health Center, our team of Health Educators, a Registered Dietitian, trained peer educators, and other student volunteers deliver health education information through the use of one-on-one counseling, innovative and collaborative events as well as the distribution of education materials.

Students are key to the successful implementation of our programs and services within the Health Promotion & Wellness Services Department. This spring, we have a total of thirty students who come from a variety of majors. Five are paid and the remainder are receiving either academic credit or volunteer experience helping their fellow students achieve a better level of health and wellness.

Services & programs provided by the Health Promotion & Wellness Services include, but are not limited to:

  • One-on-one nutritional counseling by a Registered Dietitian and Peer Nutrition Counselors
  • One-on-one sexual health counseling/education by trained Peer Health Educators as part of the Family PACT program
  • Fall & spring wellness fairs
  • Innovative activities promoting responsibility and safety in honor of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and spring break
