Fresno State's Graduate Student Orientation
New and returning graduate students recently attended a Graduate Student Orientation designed especially for them.
Students were invited to get acquainted with the DGS Office and learn about the distinctive elements of graduate education.
The
orientation gave students the opportunity to have discussions with
graduate office staff and other key individuals from around campus.
Representatives included Alicia Andrade-Owen, Career Services; Francine
Oputa, Women's Resource Center; Ross LaBaugh, Madden Library; Sam
Wilkerson, Digital Campus; Cynthia Osborne, Health & Psychological
Services; and Neil Gibson, Associated Student Services.
In addition, graduate office staff was available
to answer questions on classified standing, advancement, and the culminating
experience.
Over
150 graduate students attended the orientation, and their evaluations
indicate that the event was very worthwhile. Student feedback indicated
that the event offered motivation and practical resources. A demonstration
on the newly redesigned DGS Web site let them see how easy it is to
check the guidelines and access forms 24 hours a day.
