Merit Awards
- President's Graduate Scholars
Fellowships for entering graduate/doctoral students Fall 2013 (Spring Nomination Deadline: TBA)
- Two $3,500 merit-based awards are available each year with the possibility of recipients qualifying for a second year of the award, assuming conformance with developed standards and the need for a second year to complete the graduate/doctoral course of study. Nominees must be incoming first-semester graduate or doctoral students.
Need-based Awards
- Graduate Equity Fellowship
Program (2012 Spring Deadline: May 17, 2012)
- These fellowships enable students from historically underrepresented backgrounds to pursue their graduate degrees with financial assistance in amounts up to $4,500 per academic year for four semesters. Applicants must have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Research Awards

Research and Creative Activities Support Awards (Deadlines:
Fall 2012-TBA/Spring 2013-TBA)
- Competitive research support awards in amounts up to $1000 are made in recognition and scholarship of a graduate/doctoral student's dissertation, thesis, or research project.
- Robert & Norma
Craig Graduate Fellowships (Deadline: Fall 2012 - TBA)
- This fellowship, with a stipend of up to $1000, is designed to provide benefits to both students and faculty. The fellowship seeks to increase research abilities by engaging students in mentored activities with faculty assistance.
- 2012-2013 California Pre-Doctoral
Program for Undergraduate and Graduate Students (Spring 2013 Deadline: TBA)
- This program is designed to increase the pool of potential faculty by supporting the doctoral aspirations of California State University students who have experienced economic and educational disadvantages. Scholars and their faculty mentors are awarded $3,000 to travel to doctoral institutions and national conferences to enhance their entrance into doctoral study. Summer internships are also available for selected scholars.
Presentation Funding
- Travel Grants
(ongoing: All materials must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the conference/meeting)
- These grants are available throughout the year to students who have been invited to present a paper or poster at a major professional association conference or society meeting.
