Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Research groups within the Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC) are interested in recruiting highly motivated, reliable undergraduate students who are interested in gaining hands-on research experience with the goal of making them more competitive to enter graduate programs either at the California State University, Fresno, or elsewhere. Volunteers are always welcome, but some funding and university credit opportunities also exist. The most successful applicants are entering their sophomore years, and are committed to remaining in the lab for the duration of their undergraduate education. This gives students maximal opportunity (and time) to engage in and develop their research in such a way that will result in peer-reviewed publication(s). Interested students should contact the institute with a letter of application to a specific research group, together with a current resume.

Graduate Research Opportunities

Research groups within the Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC) are interested in recruiting independent, motivated, and personable students who are interested in enrolling in the Professional Science Master's Degree Programs in Forensic Science or Biotechnology at California State University, Fresno, and conducting quality thesis research with an associated research group.

Graduate students are expected to learn laboratory and field research techniques, practice writing and submitting grant proposals, design and execute experiments, and submit their results to professional societies for presentation and peer-reviewed journals for publication. Interested students should contact the institute with a letter of application to a specific research group, together with a current curriculum vita.

Post-doctoral / Sabbatical Fellowship Opportunities

Research groups within the Forensic Biotechnology Institute of California (FBIC) welcome inquiries from individuals interested in pursuing either post-doctoral or sabbatical fellowships at the Institute. Please contact the institute with a letter of intent, a current curriculum vita, funding information (if you have it), and proposed length of stay.
