What is the Bachelor of Arts in English-Education option?
The State of California requires prospective teachers to establish subject matter competency before they can be granted a Single Subject Credential in English.
The Subject Matter Program in English is designed for students who wish to pursue a career teaching English in secondary schools, grades 7 through 12.
The English-Education option constitutes a pathway toward the English major for those students who wish to teach in California high schools. This program combines the lower-division core, core competencies, English-Education option and selected extended studies emphasis.
In addition to the program requirements, G.E. requirements and electives are required to fulfill the 120-unit degree. See university catalog.
