Pathways: Student Services
Getting through college takes a variety of skills. It requires building relationships
with University resources and communities that support student discovery and a sense
of direction for those who may need a little guidance along the way. Pathways: Student
Services at Fresno State offers a plethora of resources and services that are tailored
to address the individual needs of all students in the Lyles College of Engineering.
This one-stop student resource center is housed within the college and also serves
prospective students as well as alumni.
Academic Coaching ensures that all students fulfill the class requirements for their respective major and understand their general education requirements.
Tutoring is available for all core engineering, general education, and gate-keeper courses.
Professional Speaker Series
Industry professionals and alumni provide support for the Lyles College of Engineering through our 'Professional Speaker Series.' Professionals bring students their expertise in technological advances and industry trends, as well as participate in story sharing and talks on how to prepare for the professional realm. If you would like to be a guest speaker, please reach out to Hernan Maldonado at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We believe the only way to learn is to experience. Each semester, we invite students to join us on field trips and industry tours. Locations have included local industry leaders as well as NASA JPL, Google, Apple, Tesla, Edwards Air Force Base, Computer History Museum, and Levis Stadium. All field trip opportunities are on a first-come first-served basis - students must sign-up in a timely manner.
The Lyles College of Engineering provides study and tutorial space for students 24-hours-a-day.
Our leadership retreats provides students in the Lyles College of Engineering an opportunity to develop and learn leadership skills that can be implemented in their respective student organizations, and throughout their academic careers.
Internship & Career Opportunities
Organizations from the Valley and beyond contact Student Services directly to recruit interns and employees. They have the opportunity to post in our Employment & Internship database where students can go and search for the internship or career of their dreams.
Each fall, Pathways puts on the Lyles College of Engineering 'Industry Expo and Back to School BBQ.' This annual event brings in companies from around the Valley and beyond to meet and network with students. There were more than 50 industry members who joined us during the fall 2018 Industry Expo. Many students walked away wioth internship and employment leads.
Staff from Fresno State's Career Development Center spend one-on-one time with students and hold presentations to help enhance student's resume building and professional development skills.
Clubs & Organizations
We believe the key to success is 'community' and our students are able to build a community through various clubs and organizations. Through participation, students have the opportunity to support one-another, attend events and conferences, and build their leadership skills.
