Matthew Wielicki
Graduate-President

|
I was born in Wroclaw, Poland and
moved to the US when I was 4 years old. I grew up in Fresno and
graduated from Bullard High in 1996. After high school, I
continued my studies at UC San Diego and majored in biochemistry and
cellular biology. I graduated in 2001 and went to work in a
molecular biology lab at a novel vaccine company.
I have always been drawn to the outdoors and interested in geology; I
have now shifted my focus to obtaining a Ph.D. in Environmental Science
and pursuing an academic teaching career. This will be my second
year as a graduate student in the Earth & Environmental Science
department and my first as president of the geology club. I
recently got married to the greatest girl in the world, Bethany Ericka
Wielicki, and honeymooned with a road-trip through Baja.

I am a senior in
the Biology department with an emphasis in Ecology and Evolutionary
Biology. I have completed my minor in Geology and after graduation plan
on returning to CSU Fresno as a graduate student in Geology. The areas
of study I am interested in are stream restoration and fluvial
geomorphology.
A little about
myself, I was born in London, England and moved to the states when I
was 2. I left the Fresno area when I was 16 and went to school in San
Diego before returning to complete my degree here. I am currently
finishing my internship with the U.S. Forest Service where I work as a
Geology/ Soil Intern. I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors and
spending time with my daughter Willow.

Guy
Hooten
Treasurer
|
I was born in Hollister, California
on October 29, 1976. During my childhood I lived in the central valley
and the
central coast where I graduated from King City
High School
in 1995. After high school I moved to Utah
where I started my own painting and remodeling business. The
painting business failed in 2000 when I
realized that continuing my education was essential if I wanted a
better
future.
I started
attending Cuesta Community
College in San Luis Obispo, CA during the fall
of 2000. After graduating
with an A.S. degree and marrying my beautiful wife Wendy, I transferred
to Fresno State. Currently, I have a senior
standing in
geology and I am acting treasurer of the geology club.
