Support WRNC

We would like to extend an invitation to your company/organization to help support the Western Regional Noyce Initiative (WRNI) Conference. Your donation will be used for the sole purpose and benefit of future and current STEM educators, to equip them with teaching tools, help motivate their learning and provide them with an inspirational and unforgettable experience.

The WRNI supports future and current practicing STEM Educators and fosters innovative pedagogy and best practices in cohort of passionate educators. The WRNI is being coordinated by California State University, Fresno, San Francisco State University, San Diego State University, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This three-day event is the culmination of years of work in local school districts and our state universities to improve STEM education in our high needs school districts. These Noyce scholars will convene in San Francisco on November 7-9th 2014 at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco.

The WRNI Conference is still in need of support from the local community despite contributions of funds, time, and in-kind donations from the National Science Foundation, CSME, SF State, teachers and volunteers. This year we will depend on donations to assist with event costs that include field trips, travel and accommodations for educators located over 100 miles from San Francisco.

Your donation will support the goals of the WRNI:

  • To expose our participants to resources and professional development training in methods that employ proven practices in teacher preparation and induction.
  • To model an approach to teaching with an emphasis on Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
  • To help to increase the number of future STEM leaders in our region’s schools who will be prepared to effectively implement the Next Generation Science Standards and/or the Common Core State Standards as more Western Region states fully adopt or include them in their STEM curricula.

The Noyce conferences and summer institutes impact hundreds of STEM educators currently in the pre-service or in-service stages of their profession. Noyce Scholars, Teachers, Fellows, and leaders from close to 90 campuses throughout the Western Region will gain new knowledge on effective STEM teaching, gain more in-depth knowledge of effective student engagement strategies aligned with new science and common core standards, learn about outstanding online resources and learning communities that will help them to achieve at the highest level in the classroom, and interact with colleagues across a wide region of the United States electronically. Conferences will directly impact close to 850 Noyce participants and summer programs another 140 over the two-year project.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to help support the WRNI Conference, an event hosted by the Center for Science and Mathematics Education at SF State University, a nonprofit 501c(3) organization.
