Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)
The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) is a partnership of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno Latino Center for Medical Education and Research and California State University Fresno, College of Science and Mathematics. HCOP provides academic and social support through advising, workshops, tutoring, conferences, and service learning to eligible Fresno State students who wish to pursue a career in a healthcare profession.
Pre-Medical Health Scholars (PHS)
The Pre-Medical and Health Scholars (PHS) Program For HCOP students pursuing medicine, dentistry or pharmacy, a unique program is offered at the upper division level. Eligible HCOP students can apply to the Pre-medical and Health Scholars Program, a strand specifically focused on preparing students for health professional school (medical, pharmacy, and dentistry). Services include health professional school application seminars, a site visit to UCSF Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Medicine, a Great Valley tour to learn about local health disparities, networking experiences, mentoring opportunities and an MCAT/DAT preparation course.
