Teaching Mathematics with Common Core Mathematical Practices, 2017

Saturday June 17th
Introductory activities including Common core Standards in Mathematics and eight Standards of mathematical practices Followed by a Geometry demonstration class using University high school teachers and immersed lesson for the participating teachers.
Week of June 19th - 23rd
Each day participating teachers will get an opportunity to observe demonstrations classes in grades 4-6, 6-9 with pre lesson discussion and post lesson debrief. Also teachers will get an opportunity to observe how student engage in outdoor activities and using computer software in their learning process
How following mathematical practices are implemented in the classroom will be observed and disused in detail.
- Standard 1: Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them
- Standard 2: Reason abstractly and quantitatively
- Standard 3: Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
- Standard 4: Model with mathematics
- Standard 5: Use appropriate tools strategically
- Standard 6: Attend to precision
- Standard 7: Look for and make use of structure
- Standard 8: Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning

If you are interested in participating in Teaching Geometry with Common Core Mathematical Practices 2017 workshop, please complete the registration form and submit it. You will be contacted through email by the workshop administration with further information.
Please ask your School/District Support you by paying the Registration fee of $650 ($750 if registering after May 1). Once you are register you will be provide information for the school district to make the payments Through Fresno State foundation.
On the first day of the workshop you will have the opportunity to signup to earn 2 units of university credit (professional development - CI180T) with additional $75/unit.
After completing this workshop, you will receive a $250 stipend.
