Eligibility
Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents in order to receive the $3500 stipend, housing and travel support. Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents will be considered if they have alternative funding sources for the duration of the program.
Participants should have at least one more semester of schoolwork to complete after the end date of the REU (July 26). Ideally, applicants should be in their sophomore or junior years.
Ideal candidates will have completed a course in proofs and linear algebra. A completed course in real or complex analysis is preferred for those wishing to work in the zeros of analytic functions group, while a completed course in abstract algebra would be a plus for those wishing to study algebraic knot theory.

As a part of your application you will need to submit a personal statement. In this statement you should detail why you would like to participate in the REU at Fresno State. It should also include a short description of hobbies and interests, a list of mathematics classes you have taken and are currently taking, along with the textbooks used. Please also include your overall GPA and your Math GPA.
In the application you will be asked to provide your gender (for housing arrangement purposes) and race/ethnicity (for NSF reporting purposes).
