Dr. Daqing Zhang, Physics

Dr. Zhang's research project is about theoretical investigation of the electric and optical properties of low dimensional semiconducting nanostructural materials. By using the software program package called WIEN2K, we can calculate electronic structures of crystalline solids of low dimensional nanomaterials and their bulk systems as well for comparison. These calculations will help us better understand quantum size and surface area effects on electronic structures of nanoscale materials; and then develop our experimental research for those nanomaterials.

The 5th Annual COMPUTER EXPLORATION SUMMER CAMP

The 5th Annual COMPUTER EXPLORATION SUMMER CAMP (COMP-X 2013) project presentation was held during 12-3PM during 6/17/13-6/20/13 in IT 104, the Keck Computational Science Center. The event was organized by Dr. Ming Li. A total of fourteen students attended the five-day camp and worked on over twenty challenging projects with cutting edge programming tools such as Alice 3D animation, MIT Android App Inventor, Java, and Advanced Robotics Programming. Sponsored by the College of Science and Mathematics and Computer Science Department, the Comp-X summer camp is one of the major events that promote student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
