The Autism Center at Fresno State was developed by the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program in the Department of Psychology, opened in July of 2007. In the Fall of 2014 the Autism Center joined the Behavioral Sciences Institute (BSI) directly under the College of Science and Math as a Special Program within the college.
We have served over 75 children and have about 40 active clients at any one time. In July of 2015 we opened a satellite center at Valley Children's Hospital.
The model of the Autism Center is Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) which consists of 20 – 40 hours per week of individualized instruction for children with autism who begin treatment at the age of four years or younger and usually continue for 2 – 3 years.
