We are pleased that you are interested in becoming a volunteer MASS peer mentor to support our first-year freshmen within the College of Science and Mathematics. We anticipate that you will find many rewards as you begin your journey in the MASS peer mentor program. ARC is looking forward to the upcoming year and the contributions that you will be able to provide as a peer mentor.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Applicant must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at California State University, Fresno and enrolled in at least six (6) units

• Applicant must be majoring in one of the College of Science and Mathematics’ degree programs

• Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00

• Applicant must have attended Fresno State for 3 or more years starting Fall 2019 (Incoming 3rd years and transfer students are acceptable)

• Applicant must be knowledgeable of web-based applications

• Applicant with customer service related skills are preferred, but not required 

• Applicant must have the ability to:                                      

              • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing 

              • Work with a diverse student population 

              • Efficiently manage duties in a multi-task environment 

              • Work politely and effectively with the public, coworkers, and others 

              • Maintain confidentiality

Duties and Responsibilities as a MASS Peer Mentor: 

• Attend a 3-day training during the summer (June 4-6, 2019)

• Assist with Dog Days (June 13-14 and July 2-3, 2019)

• Assist with summer enrichment program (August 15-16 and August 19-20, 2019)

• Support and assist their assigned freshmen students during the 2019/2020 academic year

• Record student sessions in Bulldog Connect
