Dr. William Rice
Dr. Rice is Professor of Marketing and is past Director of the USDA/CSUF Armenian Agriculture Academy Project, the Irish Entrepreneur Project, and Assistant Director of the Moldavian Business Development Project at California State University, Fresno. He has also served as the Director of the University Business Center. He came to CSUF in 1983 after teaching at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia for five years. He holds a B.S. in Accounting and M.S. in Marketing from California State University, Northridge, and D.B.A. (Doctor of Business Administration) in Marketing and Agricultural Economics from the University of Colorado. He was Professor of the Year (1996) at CSUF and Professor of the Year in the Craig Business School (student vote) in 1997. He was a College of William and Mary Fellow in 1982 and a Babson College Fellow in 1987.
His industrial experience includes President of CVIS a CAD software VAR, President of NABI International (a strategic planning and educational services firm), Vice-President of Marketing and Strategic Planning with Groundstar Energy Corporation (which installed the solar system at The White House and the Kentucky Derby); Senior Business Systems Analyst with Litton Guidance and Control Systems; Business Systems Analyst with Transamerica Corporation (design of the Hilton Hotel and Budget Rent-A-Car reservation systems); and Engineer with Lockheed Corporation (analysis for L-1011, C-5A, F-104, PC-3 Orion, Cheyenne Helicopter, and other experimental aircraft). He has been a principal in starting several businesses including CVIS (CAD/CAM software), Groundstar Energy Corporation, Senstar Corporation (Satellite Infrared Computerized Imaging), NABI International (Educational Services),and NABI Consultants (Marketing Research).
Dr. Rice has been a consultant to over 300 different firms including Microsoft, HUD, Teledyne Corporation, BFI Waste Management Inc., Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), California Fresh Carrot Board, Cantaloupe Advisory Board, Grundfos Pumps, Valley Children's Hospital, National Association of Ceiling and Wall Contractors, National Paper Box and Packaging Association, and the California Holstein Association. He is a member of many local and national organizations including the American Marketing Association (past President and Board member of Central California Chapter), Decision Sciences Institute, Association of Consumer Research, Association of Computing Machinery, and the Fresno Chamber of Commerce. He has received the Fresno Chamber's Outstanding Member Award and Outstanding Service Award.
As an educator Dr. Rice received the National Edwin M. Appel Entrepreneurship Educator Award, Craig School of Business Educational Excellence Award, Educational Innovation Award, Meritorious Performance and Professional Promise Award, and the Duncan Enterprises Community Service Award. He has sponsored over 700 Independent Studies, Graduate projects and theses, and Small Business Institute Cases. For four years he hosted a weekly television program called CONSUMER LINE. He is a guest columnist for the Fresno Business Journal. He also has many other TV, Radio and Newspaper interviews. He has traveled and spoken on all five continents.
He is author of THE BUSINESS EXPERIENCE (Experiential Exercises for Contemporary Business -Dryden Press), co-author with Ted Smith of THE MARKETING EXPERIENCE and THE MARKETING OMBUDSMAN. He has also written seven other books and manuals, plus numerous articles in marketing and technology. He is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, WHO'S WHO IN CALIFORNIA, WHO'S WHO IN TECHNOLOGY, INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORY OF RESEARCHERS, and LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE. He is on the Editorial Boards of the JOURNAL OF MARKETING EDUCATION and REVIEW OF BUSINESS STUDIES.
Dr. Rice is a popular lecturer, seminar/workshop leader and guest speaker with over 1,000 speeches, presentations and seminars. He lives on Rice Road in north Fresno, California which is a fourth generation farm founded by his family in the late 1800's.
Dr. Reza Motamemi
Dr. Reza Motameni is the past chair of the Department of Marketing and Logistics at California State University, Fresno. He has a bachelor degree in communication and advertising, a Master degree in Management Science, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with focus in Marketing, and a Ph.D. in Government & Public Policy. Since 1989 he has taught the following courses: Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research, Marketing Concepts, Retailing, Marketing Management, Business Research Methodology, Global Marketing, Marketing Plan and Strategy, Marketing in Action, Marketing Information Systems, Introduction to e-business, and e-Marketing. As a researcher, Dr. Motameni has an extensive record of publications in marketing topics. He has published in the Pennsylvania Journal of Business & Economics, The Journal of Resource Management & Technology, International Journal of Commerce and Management, International Journal of Management, Journal of Church and State, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Open Business Journal, Marketing Management Journal, and Journal of International Business Disciplines. He has presented numerous academic papers in national and international conferences too. Dr. Motameni is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, the Journal of Services Marketing, and the Journal of Consumer Marketing. He has supervised numerous student projects that have aided the university and community. Dr. Motameni has broad consulting experiences.
Dr. Beng Ong
Beng Ong joined CSUF in 1990. He holds a Ph.D. in Business (Marketing); from University of Arkansas. Ong has taught a number of undergraduate and graduate marketing class including some totally online and hybrid (online and face-to-face combination) courses. He has managed dozens of marketing and MBA Team Consulting projects as well as internships for organizations and small businesses including Herwaldt Motors, Ford Motor Company, Citi Cards, GM Chevrolet, AmeriPride, Pelco, Yellow Pages Advertising Association, Fresno State Printing Services Office, and Direct Marketing Educational Foundation.
Beng Ong has over 12 years of marketing and research consulting experience. He served as Senior Market Research Manager at InsightExpress, and prior to that, served as Director of Arkansas Household Research Panel. Ong has consulted with a number of corporations, government agencies, advertising firms, and syndicated research suppliers. Some of the projects included local/regional polling, focus groups, surveys, analyses on social, political, regulatory, and economic issues, program/brand awareness campaign assessments, as well as feasibility and forecasting studies. Beng Ong has also held visiting engagements at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising (Los Angeles), Microsoft Indonesia, and NetApps Malaysia.
Ong has published over two dozens articles (several publications co-authored with his undergraduate and graduate students), and presented papers at numerous conferences. Beng Ong was invited to be the first speaker at Asian Bloggers and Social Media Conference in Malaysia (2010).
Beng Ong's current teaching and research is in Environmental Sustainability. He is also a faculty advisor for Fresno State American Marketing Association Collegiate Chapter, and Fresno State Malaysian Student Club.
Dr. Andy W. Stratemeyer
Andy W. Stratemeyer joined the Department of Marketing and Logistics at California State University, Fresno as an Associate Professor in 2006. Prior to his arrival, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso from 2001-2006. He received his Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin and his MBA with a concentration in Marketing from New Mexico State University. He also earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from New Mexico State University. His teaching and research interests include small business strategy, services marketing, and marketing research. He has presented papers at conferences and has published in such journals as Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, Journal of Business Disciplines, Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Academy of Marketing Science Review, Journal of Entrepreneurship Education, Services Marketing Quarterly, and Journal of Small Business Strategy. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Stratemeyer worked in the advertising industry and has continued to work on a variety of consulting projects in the areas of marketing research and advertising strategy.
Dr. Susan Geringer (Chair of the Department)
Dr. Susan Geringer received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from California State University, Fresno. She attended New York University for doctoral work and completed her DBA at Henley Management College at Henley-on-Thames, England. Dr. Geringer’s professional background includes positions such as retail executive, retail buyer, special events and entertainment management and public relations director at an advertising agency. She has taught at the university level since 1982. Dr. Geringer’s teaching and research areas include Consumer Behavior, Sports Marketing, Marketing Concepts, and Marketing Education topics. Her recent research addresses topics including purchasing decisions by Generation Y, cell phone purchase research, sports marketing, fashion marketing, the Concept of "Flow" in various aspects of consumerism, and service learning topics. Dr. Geringer’s publications include those on service learning topics as well as two textbooks, “Fashion, Color, Line and Design” and “History of 20th Century Costume and Merchandising”, which was co-authored with Evelyn Oliver. Her authored case studies have appeared in Marketing textbooks. She has been awarded The CSB Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award twice. Dr. Geringer also works on legal cases as an expert witness and consultant, as well as a consultant to retail stores.
Dr. Monique L. Bell
Dr. Monique L. Bell received her doctoral degree from Drexel University and is an assistant professor of marketing at California State University, Fresno. Her research interests include marketing communications, marketing strategy and branding. Dr. Bell's recent research has examined the effects of firms' organizational values on marketing outcomes, including customer satisfaction and corporate reputation. Her dissertation earned the Melvin and Patricia Stith Marketing Doctoral Dissertation Grant, as well as the Drexel University Outstanding Dissertation Award for Social Sciences. Dr. Bell has presented at several marketing conferences, including Advances in Consumer Research and AMA Marketing Educators' Conference. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Bell worked in a number of marketing/public relations roles in the Baltimore, MD area. She is a graduate of Morgan State University and the University of Baltimore, and she is a member of The PhD Project.
Mr. ALAN C. CANTON
Prior to joining the faculty of the Marketing and Logistics Dept. in the Fall of 2001, Professor Canton spent 26 years in all phases of consumer and business marketing in the private sector, the last 12 of which were as Vice President of International Marketing for the Sun-Maid Raisin Co. He received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. In addition to teaching undergraduate courses in Marketing Concepts, Global and International Marketing, and Professional Selling, Professor Canton also teaches Marketing Management and Global Marketing and Logistics in the MBA program at the Craig School of Business. Along with his teaching responsibilities, Prof. Canton also serves as the coordinator for the Service-Learning Program and as Chairman of the Undergraduate Programs Committee.
Ms. Patricia Bruegman-Turnbull
Patricia Bruegman-Turnbull earned both her BA and MBA degrees from California State University, Fresno. During her graduate studies, she began an eight-year career with a Fresno-based advertising agency before striking out on her own with Turnbull Marketing Services, Inc., working with local businesses in the financial, healthcare and real estate industries. Additionally, Patricia serves as Director of Marketing for one of the largest eye care
providers in the Valley. Patricia's marketing strengths are in strategic planning, creative development, public relations and media purchasing.
Mr. Dennis Schneider
I've been teaching for over 35 years and have enjoyed every minute. My area of expertise is marketing, retailing, advertising, and personal selling/customer service. I earned my BS from CSU, Fresno and my MS in Retailing from New York University . For the past 27 years, I have taught Business Administration and Marketing courses at Fresno City College and also teach Marketing courses at CSUF for the past 18 years. I am a tenured, full-time faculty member for FCC. In my prior life, I worked in retailing. My teaching style is sharing tips and tricks that enhance your creativity and problem solving skills. My goal is to assist in molding you into a capable, ethical, and progressive business leader and marketing professional. I believe that no matter what your major or career goal, the information you receive in my class will improve your future.
Ms. Barbara Morgan
Barbara Morgan's professional experience includes directing corporate marketing efforts in both B2B and B2C environments, managing large-scale customer service operations, and designing and implementing marketing research programs focusing on customer satisfaction and product quality. Ms. Morgan has been part of the management team at Pelco since 2004 and currently directs the global training team delivering technical, product, and sales training to 9,000 customers and employees annually. Ms. Morgan has previously served as VP of Marketing & Advertising for Duncan Enterprises, a global distributor of consumer products in the hobby industry and a supplier to Wal-Mart and Michael's; VP of Marketing and New Products for ValliWide Bank, a commercial bank focused on growth through an aggressive acquisition strategy; and as VP and Regional Sales Manager for Glendale Federal Bank.
Ms. Morgan received her MBA from California State University, Fresno, with distinction and holds an M.Ed. from the College of Notre Dame as well as a B.A. in Economics from the University of Santa Clara. She is active in the Fresno community and has served on the Board of Directors of the Marjaree Mason Center for the past several years, including two years as Board President. Ms. Morgan has served as adjunct faculty for the past eight years in the Craig School's graduate and undergraduate business programs.
Ms. Lydia Anderson
Hello! You obviously want to know a little more about me, so here's the skinny: I earned my AA from Reedley College and my BA and MBA from CSU, Fresno. For the past ten years, I have taught Business Administration and Marketing courses at Fresno City College and also teach Marketing at CSUF. I am a tenured, full-time instructor at FCC. In my prior life, I worked in healthcare, specifically in the areas of strategic planning and marketing. For the past twenty+ years, I have worked with businesses throughout the state in the areas of strategic planning, HRM, marketing, and training. I continue to do so and frequently share my stories in my lectures. It keeps me and my students current and in touch with reality. Mr. Jeffrey Finley
Professor Finley earned his BS and MBA from California State University, Fresno. He has helped develop and grow two different start-up companies that were eventually acquired by publicly traded companies and spent the majority of his career working in New York City and the Bay Area. Professor Finley is currently the Managing Director of Investments and a Vice President at United Security Bank and is responsible for all aspects of the bank’s investment business, estate planning, and all related marketing. AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION: Strategic Planning, Direct Sales, Services Marketing, and Sales Management.

Ms. Susan Wilke
Susan Wilke is currently Vice President of Marketing for Lennar Fresno, a division of a national homebuilder. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Arizona and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management McGuire Entrepreneurship Program. She brings 20+ years of broad-based experience and knowledge in marketing, operations management, and customer service working for large companies such as Citibank, the Gap and Lennar and running regional companies such as John’s Incredible Pizza Company and a United Way chapter.
Mr. Brian Glover
Mr. Glover spent his early professional career in the retail industry as a multi store manager where he progressed rapidly from managing a small portfolio of five stores to management of over thirty-eight stores located throughout Central and Northern California. Mr. Glover has been self employed since 2000 focusing primarily on the real estate industry where he has been involved in the development and acquisition of over 1,300 apartment units throughout Oregon, Washington and California covering product lines which included senior, family and affordable housing. In 2005 Mr. Glover purchased, with three other partners, the Fresno Grizzlies, a Triple - A baseball team affiliated with the San Francisco Giants which was followed by the purchase of the Fresno Fuego, a Premier Development soccer team in the United Soccer League. In 2006 Mr. Glover orchestrated the largest Stadium Naming Rights sponsorship in Minor League Baseball history with the sale of the sponsorship to the Chukchansi Indian Tribe for $16 million over a fifteen year commitment. In 2008 Mr. Glover joined with the Penstar Group and began working on various real estate development projects which include the master planned community of Fancher Creek, the redevelopment of Fresno's Historic Chinatown, the restoration of the Bank of Italy building, and the West Fresno Regional Center for the County of Fresno. Mr. Glover has lived in Fresno, California since 1996 and is the past Chairman of the Board for the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Fresno, Board Member and Secretary for the Fresno Sports Foundation, Board Member for the Poverello House and a member of the Advisory Committee for Fresno's Public Improvement District.
Ms. Hai Ying Zhang
Haiying Zhang, M.B.A., has 16 years' experience working in retail management, as buyer and Divisional Merchandise Manager in two regional department stores, in Hawaii and California. She brought to classrooms a rich real-world experience in vendor negotiation and merchandise management. Ms. Zhang also has worked in financial institutions (Bank of America and Wells Fargo) and is deeply knowledgeable in the business of residential loan origination process and guidelines.
