DSWE Field Instructor Online Training

The Council on Social Work Education requires all accredited social work degree programs to provide training to those individuals who serve in the role of field instructor for graduate and/or undergraduate social work students. In an effort to make the core training easily accessible to the field instructors in our vast service region, the following online training has been developed. It is available in five modules and should be completed in numerical order from one to five. The modules can be completed individually over a period of time. There are survey questions at the end of each module to assess your understanding of the module content. The survey results are sent directly to the department and provide evidence of your completion of this training.

The online training needs to be completed only once by all field instructors. New field instructors are asked to complete this training as part of their certification process before being assigned any students; established field instructors should complete the training as soon as possible. In assigning students to field instructors, preference will be given to those field instructors who have completed the training. In addition to this online training, the department will continue to host annual trainings and meetings with field instructors to facilitate communication and on-going professional development. If you have questions, please contact Andrea Carlin or Benita Washington at (559) 278-3992. Thank you!
