Barbara Foster, MSW
Barbara Foster received her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare from California State University, Fresno in 1974 with an emphasis in Gerontology. She began employment with the Fresno County Department of Social Services in October of 1974. She worked in Adult Protective Services and In Home Supportive Services until 1978 when she was reassigned to Child Welfare Services. Between 1978 and 1993 Ms. Foster provided direct services to children and families in Child Welfare Services that included; Emergency Response, Adolescent Family Life , Foster Parent Resources, Adoptions and Guardianship, and In Home Supportive Services as a social worker and social work supervisor. During that time, Ms. Foster returned to school to complete her MSW with an emphasis in Child Welfare. In August of 1993 Ms. Foster began her employment with California State University, Fresno as the Co-Coordinator for the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program. In 1999, Ms. Foster became the Director of the Specialized Foster Parent Training Project (SFPT). Currently Ms. Foster continues to direct the SFPT, the Adult Protective Services Training Academy, and is the Associate Director for the Central California Training Academy.
