Message from the Chair
Congratulations on seeking educational opportunities in the field of public health. On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff in the department, I wish to thank you for visiting the website for the Department of Public Health at California State University, Fresno.
The Public Health Department is proud to host one of the most diverse faculty, staff, and student bodies in the university, to offer unrivaled academic programs, and to house nationally and internationally renowned faculty. During the last five years students in the Public Health Department have been selected to nationally competitive fellowships, presented at national conferences, and been selected as Dean Medalists in the College of Health and Human Services.
The Department of Public Health offers undergraduate academic degrees in the options of Community Health, Health Administration, and Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety. The Department also offers a 20 unit minor in Health Science and a 24 unit Public Health Minor. Students interested in alcohol and drugs can complete our 12 unit certificate program which can be combined with a major or minor in the program or be taken as a stand alone program.
Graduate academic offerings include a Master of Public Health with an option in Health Promotion. Our programs are designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for our graduates to succeed in today's health marketplace.
Our graduate and undergraduate academic programs are supported by the leading research and training being conducted at the Central Valley Health Policy Institute, the Central California Regional Obesity Program, and the Children's Institute. Faculty in each of these externally funded programs has academic appointments in our department.
Stop by our office in McLane Hall 184 or call us at (559) 278-4014 if you have any questions. You might also wish to visit the website for pathways to public health for additional information. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Yours in Health,
