Biography

Dr. Bhupinder Singh is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). Dr. Singh obtained his entry level degree in physical therapy from Khalsa College, India and his Ph.D. in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences from University of Iowa.

Dr. Singh joined the faculty of Fresno State in 2013, where he currently teaches first and final year courses in the musculoskeletal track for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and oversees the nationally recognized Gait Analysis Movement Evaluation (GAME) laboratory https://www.fresnostate.edu/chhs/physical-therapy/clinics-labs/game-lab.html.

Dr. Singh specializes in the study of gait and biomechanics, with a special focus on obesity and its impact on physical activity in children. Dr. Singh has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences and published in several high impact journals (see full list at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/browse/collection/41075823). Dr. Singh is currently working on starting a new line of research on effect of physical therapy in lower limb amputees.

Dr. Singh is a licensed physical therapist and leads the Fresno State Amputee Clinic, providing free services to this underserved community. Dr. Singh remains active on campus, where he serves on a variety of University and college level committees – including the Academic Senate and as the grants and contracts specialist for the Central California Sports Science Institute. Dr. Singh is also one of the lead facilitators for the President’s DiscoverE initiative and is part of Fresno State’s Health Cohort to improve health outcomes of Central Valley residents.

Dr. Singh has been recognized as a Promising New Faculty, Outstanding Student Advisor and was recently awarded early tenure. Dr. Singh strives to help physical therapy students around the world become excellent scholars and practitioners.

In free time, Dr. Singh enjoys traveling around the world, and visiting historical sites with his wife and son.
