Admission Requirements

  • Master's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution or
  • Master's Degree in a health-related field (e.g Public Health or Health Administration), additional post-baccalaureate courses in nursing theories, research methods, transcultural nursing, and informatics will be required
  • National Certification in nursing or obtain certification prior to the fifth semester of the DNP program
  • Have current, unrestricted California RN licensure and advanced practice national certification if applicable
  • Be of U.S citizen or U.S permanent resident
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Demonstrate sufficient preparation and practice experience as an APN, nurse manager/administrator/executive/educator/or experienced nurse
  • Provide official transcripts from all institutions ever attended
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation with complete reference rating form from the individual's current supervisor and two professional colleagues or professor from master's degree program
  • A personal written statement of purpose. Must be doubled-spaced and address the following: what you expect to accomplish in the DNP program and how the DNP program will advance your nursing career and practice. You may include your potential area of focus in the program which should be your primary area of exploration for your DNP project.
  • Completion of a required interview and on-site writing assessment
  • Submit a complete application to the California State University, Northern California Consortium Doctor of Nursing Practice program AND
  • Submit a complete application for admission to California State University, Fresno via Cal State Apply
    • Must meet admission requirements to the university
