About the Department

The CSDS Department is committed to facilitating the learning of all students. Several students who initially take one of the general education courses offered by our department choose to major or minor in one of our major emphasis. Other students come into our department having already determined that majoring in our department will offer them a rewarding career in Audiology, Deaf Education, Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, or Speech-Language Pathology.

 

Mission

The mission of the Department of Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies at California State University, Fresno is to disseminate knowledge and to train professionals in speech-language pathology, audiology, deaf education, deaf studies, and interpreting who will provide quality service to the public. The Department will accomplish this mission by providing a stimulating leaning environment for enhancing personal and educational development, promoting understanding of people of various cultures, and offering opportunities for research and scholarship in communicative sciences and deaf studies.
