What is NSSLHA?
The National Student Speech LanguageHearing Association (NSSLHA) is a pre-professional membership association for students interested in the study of communication sciences and disorders.
How do I become a NSSLHA member?
Students can either become a member of the local CSU, Fresno chapter of NSSLHA or a member of the national chapter of NSSLHA, or both. To become a local member, fill out the simple application located on the NSSLHA board outside the media center in our department (PHS 244), and turn it in, along with your $10.00 membership fee, to Mike Burns (clinic director). Local NSSLHA chapter dues are paid at the beginning of each semester.
To become a national NSSLHA member, go to www.NSSLHA.org and follow the instructions provided on the website. The membership fee for national NSSLHA is $45 each year.
What are the benefits of being a NSSLHA member?
Members of the local NSSLHA chapter are part of a collegial group of students who are focused on increasing the awareness and visibility of the fields of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, as well as advancement of the professions at a local level. Local NSSLHA members are involved in community service activities and promotion of the department to attract qualified students to join the profession.
National NSSLHA members enjoy a wealth of benefits offered through ASHA. Included in these benefits are discounts on ASHA-approved/sponsored conferences, as well as mailings of various publications and journals. For more information on the benefits of joining national NSSLHA, go to www.NSSLHA.org.
