Prerequisite Courses

Deaf Education

If you do not have an undergraduate degree in Deaf Education, email CDDS@LISTSERV.CSUFRESNO.EDU about our Online Prerequisite Modules.

Speech-Language Pathology

The department has a policy to permit a very few students, with a bachelor degree in other fields, to take our prerequisite courses through Open University. Students must meet the following standards or will not be permitted to proceed through the undergraduate classes. (1) Each student must agree to take a minimum of 4 prerequisite courses per semester and (2) maintain a 3.0 GPA each semester in those courses. Students who do not maintain these standards will not be permitted to continue to take the department's prerequisite courses, through Open University. Students who withdraw from courses or take incomplete grades must have written documentation of the emergency; students with documented reasons for withdrawal or incomplete grades must receive approval of the CDDS faculty to continue taking prerequisite courses. Please note that financial aid is not available for students taking classes via Open University. Approval to take our prerequisite classes via Open University does not guarantee admission to our graduate program.

Students will complete a petition and submit it with official copies of their transcripts from their bachelor's degree awarding university to the Graduate Coordinator. Petitions and transcripts must be received by the Graduate Coordinator by November 1st to begin the following spring semester and by April 1st to begin the following fall semester. Students must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA, on their bachelor-degree-awarding university transcript, to be approved.
