Dr. Joseph Gandler is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at California State University, Fresno. He earned a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the State University of New York, at Buffalo and at Brandeis University before joining the chemistry department faculty at Fresno State.
Areas of Specialty
Dr. Gandler teaches undergraduate courses in general chemistry and courses for pre-service teachers in the liberal studies program, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in organic chemistry.
Dr. Gandler's research interest have involved the physical organic chemistry or organic reactions, especially applying multiple structure-reactivity relationships to elucidate transition state structures and reaction mechanisms. Dr. Gandler is also interested in pre- and post-service teacher education programs.
