August 23, 2018, was a very special day for Fresno State Visalia Campus (FSVC) students in the South Valley Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP). On that day, they began the first classes on their pathway to becoming teachers by May 2020. Students in the first cohort of this accelerated program were recognized at a special ITEP Welcome Celebration at the FSVC). At this reception, ITEP students met with guests from local school districts, community colleges, and community supporters of the South Valley Education Initiative that brought this innovative Bachelor of Arts degree and Teaching Credential programs to the FSVC.
