Society, Culture and Art in Renaissance Italy

Program Summary:

Travel to Florence, Ferrara, Venice and Rome to discover the history and culture of the Italian 

Renaissance! Investigate the social, economic, and cultural background which made possible one of the greatest art revolutions in the West, characterized by such masters as Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael.

Based on one week of stateside instruction and two weeks of international travel, our goal will be to learn to appreciate, not only the beauty of Renaissance art, but also its meaning and function as a mirror of the society which created it.

Housing and Meals:

Students will be housed in budget hotels including daily breakfast. Each room will house 2-3 students with a bathroom. 


Students must have a valid passport in order to participate on any study abroad program. Passports should be valid for 6 months after the return date of the program.

All U.S. citizens studying in Italy for less than six months are not required to apply for a visa. Non-US citizens, including permanent residents and international students, may be required to have a visa in order to travel to Italy. SAIE can help investigate if students will need a visa for this program.
