Careers and Employment

Students completing this online program will gain vital competency relevant to today's workforce in the areas of geospatial information technology. An already large $5 billion U.S. market in GIScience technologies is projected to increase to $30 billion within the span of the next few years, even with the economic downturn. The Relationship Between the GIS Certificate of Advanced Study and the Professional Science Masters (PSM) in Water Resource Management

The GIS Certificate of Advanced Study is a stand-alone online certificate. Students are not required to be enrolled in the PSM in Water Resource Management. However, one of the four GIS certificate courses counts towards requirements in the PSM degree program, should a student elect to switch into the PSM program. Such an action would disqualify the student from obtaining the Certificate but would recognize this graduate course toward the PSM program. The PSM in Water Resource Management is currently under development and is not available until the program receives final approval from Fresno State, The California State University, and WASC accreditation.
