Music Technology for Educators

This course is designed to teach music technology skills and applications to K-12 educators, private music teachers, and music professionals. Specific skills taught in the course include the use of music notation software, the use of sequencing and recording software, knowledge of microphone types and patterns, and the ability to do basic sound recording, editing, and mixing. These skills will be used to create pedagogical music examples, musical arrangements for ensembles, musical mock-ups using MIDI and software synthesis, and recordings for archival and educational purposes. Ability to read music is required.
This course is taught partially online. Syllabi, course readings, handouts, etc. will be posted online on Blackboard.
This course has been approved by the Division of Continuing and Global Education at Fresno State for 1.5 continuing education units.
