The application deadline for Early Fall 2019 (August 19 to October 11) and Fall 2019 (August 19 to December 6) ended on June 28, 2019.
Enroll in the AEI if you want to:
- Prepare for study in an American college or university
- Study in a full-time English Program
- Study English for personal or professional reasons
- Enhance your skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar
- Prepare for the iTEP test
- Study alongside other international students from all over the world
Programs Available for International Students:
Intensive English Program (IEP)
The Intensive English Program includes 20 hours per week of instruction including three core classes and one elective course.
The Bridge Program is for advanced level students who wish to improve their English while also taking one university course at Fresno State. This program includes 20 hours of English instruction per week as well as one 4-6-unit course at Fresno State. University courses offered are based on availability.
Study Abroad Program
The Study Abroad program is for students who wish to experience one year of university study (non-degree seeking). This program offers students one year of English study to prepare for one year of university study. Students will be offered assistance in applying to Fresno State and selecting their university classes.
The Service Learning program offers students one service-learning experience (2+ hours per week) while also taking three AEI core classes. Students will also be offered a weekly workshop to help support them in their service-learning experience.
This program is offered to advanced level students who are seeking an undergraduate degree at Fresno State. Students will take a 16-week course in the AEI advanced level that includes 20 hours of instruction per week. Assuming students pass through the advanced level with a 4.0 GPA, they will receive an English Proficiency Exam waiver that satisfies the Fresno State English Proficiency requirement.
The Vacation English program includes 6-12 hours per week of instruction in the AEI Core Classes. Note: Students may not use a student visa while enrolled in this program.
Programs Available for Residents:
Intensive English Program (IEP) – Part-time or Full-time
Permanent U.S. residents (non-visa holders) may enroll in the Intensive English Program at the AEI. Residents can take anywhere from 2 to 20 hours of class time (depending on class structure) per week. Program dates and deadlines are the same as our regular IEP program.
Community Exchange Opportunity Program
This is a competitive scholarship program for permanent U.S. residents (non-visa holders). Community Exchange Opportunity students may be offered one or two classes at the AEI depending on class availability, class size, and student availability. CEO students receive a tuition waiver; however, they are still expected to purchase textbooks for their classes.
This program accepts new student applications from December to January. Applications for the CEO program are available by request only. For specific application dates, deadlines, etc., please email email@example.com.
