David Vera, Ph.D.

Dr. David Vera holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from University of California San Diego, where he specialized in macroeconomics and applied econometrics. He also holds a BA in Economics from Universidad Central de Venezuela. Dr Vera has done research and published on an array of topics such as: bank deregulation and small business lending, Taylor rules, oil shocks in oil producing countries and more recently on the Japanese economy. Dr Vera’s current research agenda focuses on Japanese financial institutions. Prior to joining California State University, Fresno, Dr. Vera was a faculty member at Kent State University where he taught graduate and undergraduate macroeconomics. Dr Vera also worked as an Economist and was a visiting scholar at the Central Bank of Venezuela. Dr Vera is a very committed instructor and particularly enjoys teaching macroeconomics and econometrics. Dr Vera joined the Department of Economics in the fall of 2011.
