Students
Hello! Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!
And a heart-felt “Howdy” to you as well, fellow Bulldogs! My name is Natalie Bachicha. I am a third year English major, and your ASI Senator for the College of Arts and Humanities. ASI, or Associated Students Inc., is the elected student government here at California State University, Fresno. It is our job to connect students with opportunities to enrich their college experience, advocate student interests on a campus-wide and state level, and provide funds for numerous student programs here on campus. As Senator for this illustrious College, it is my particular privilege to represent all you writers, musicians, artists, linguists, classicists, philosophers, dancers, actors, stellar communicators… in short, it’s my luxury to serve you, the coolest kids here at Fresno State. I take tremendous pride in this College of ours. We are the primary source of culture here at Fresno State. With our concerts and our galleries and our guest speakers, we’ve truly got it all. I have so many plans for the future of this College and I’d like to showcase all we have to offer, but I’ll need plenty of support. If you’d like to find out how YOU can get involved or if you have any ideas or concerns you’d like to share, never hesitate to drop me a line! You can get a hold of me on Facebook, at concerts and football games, or simply through e-mail. This year is already shaping up to be a great one, and with hard work and determination, we can make it phenomenal! Remember, academics come first, but education also happens outside of the classroom. Talk to your professors. Join clubs. Make your voice heard!
The College of Arts and Humanities
Students and their path to success are at the heart of what we do. The College of Arts and Humanities takes great pride in cultivating a broad range of student/faculty scholarly, professional, honor, and artistic communities. From individual advising to help students succeed in their path to earning a degree to mentoring students to reach their career goals, students in the College of Arts and Humanities enjoy all the benefits of personal interaction with our outstanding and caring faculty and staff.
Here are a few testimonials from students about their educational experiences at Fresno State:
"The Philosophy Department faculty has been an invaluable resource over the past four years. With open doors, they have welcomed me into their offices. They not only discuss our assignments, but ideas and my individual goals. It has been through their guidance, that I have found extracurricular activities supplement my academic life. They are encouraging and foster debate that ensures a healthy academic atmosphere. Their tireless efforts have led to a journal and conference on campus that has allowed me to publish an article as an undergraduate. With what I've gained from the Department and the College of Arts and Humanities, my future is open with limitless possibilities." -- Mike Olsen
"The Music Department is full of knowledgeable, energetic professors who are eager to educate and mentor their students. Fresno State's lush green landscape is a beautiful place to learn and collaborate with other artists and musicians, and to discover oneself and art." -- Kevin McDonald
