Tony Mowrer
Dr. Tony Mowrer joined the faculty at California
State University, Fresno in 2007 as the choral music education
specialist and coordinator of the music education program. Dr.
Mowrer received his baccalaureate degree in music from Lubbock
Christian University in Texas, his Master’s in music history
from West Chester University, in Pennsylvania, and his doctorate in
music education from Temple University, also in Pennsylvania. His
career has spanned more than 30 years at the high school and
college levels. His high school choirs routinely received Excellent
and Superior ratings in regional festivals and several of his
students were selected to participate in division and national ACDA
Honor Choirs.
Dr. Mowrer is a member of the ACDA, MENC, and FMCMEA, and serves
as the
Secretary for the CMEA Central Section. He is active as a
clinician and adjudicator and has had articles published in The
Choral Journal and in California English. Dr. Mowrer also serves on
the Board of Institutional Reviewers for the California Commission
on Teacher Credentialing and is active as an examiner for the
International Baccalaureate Organization. In addition to his duties
at CSU, Fresno, he serves as the choir director at the College
Community Church, Mennonite Brethren in Clovis, CA.
