Krista Riggs earned the degree of Doctor of Music in Oboe Performance and Literature from Indiana University, with minors in music education and library science. Her final research document was unanimously awarded high distinction from the faculty committee at the defense/ final examination for the degree. Since graduating, she has been invited to present solo performances, lecture-recitals, and research papers across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia at conferences of organizations such as the International Double Reed Society, the International Symposium on the Philosophy of Music Education, the International Society for Music Education, and the College Music Society. She has also been invited to present research at conferences on excellence in teaching and learning, assessment in education, and gender scholarship. Dr. Riggs's award-winning research has been published in the Double Reed and the Philosophy of Music Education Review. Her principal teachers include Theodore Baskin, Roger Roe, Harry Sargous, Henry Schuman, and Martin Schuring.
