Alumni

Hello MCJ Alum,

Exciting things are happening in MCJ, and we want to make sure you are connected to us at the level of your interest.

First, some big news! We changed our name the MCJ Department is now the Media, Communications and Journalism Department. In an effort to have our name better reflect industry language and what we do and teach, our research led us to this new name. We’re pretty excited about it, and we hope you are, too! (And check out our new logo at the bottom of this letter.)

Please read on for some ideas and opportunities about how we can reconnect with you. You may have heard that Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro is all about the idea of being bold, so we organized our ideas in three levels for you bold, bolder and boldest!

Level 1: BE BOLD!

  • Follow us on social media (@FSMCJDept on Twitter and Instagram and search “MCJDept” on Facebook).

  • Do nothing and be kept in the loop periodically about MCJ.

Level 2: BE BOLDER!

To move forward with anything below, email me at bhays@csufresno.edu

  • Share your thoughts regarding #WhyMCJ for our recruitment campaign by emailing me your quote about why a student should major in MCJ, along with your photo.

  • Share any of your MCJ artifacts (photos, memories, etc.) for our upcoming MCJ 90th Birthday Celebration in 2018.

  • Contribute in some way to the upcoming MCJ 90th Birthday Bash in 2018 (ask me how!)

  • Nominate yourself or a fellow alum or two to be honored by the department. We have awards for mid-level and end-of-career MCJ rockstars.

  • Volunteer to speak to a class (in person or via Skype).

Level 3: BE BOLDEST!

To move forward with these items, email me at bhays@csufresno.edu.

  • Join (or chair) the committee to plan MCJ’s 90th Birthday Celebration in 2018.

  • Volunteer to mentor an MCJ student.

And, of course, we would love to hear your ideas as well!

Thank you and take care!
