The Center for Ethics, Character, and Civic Education supports ethics education across the curriculum including projects in professional ethics, character education, and civic education, as well as research on contemporary social issues, ethics pedagogy, and ethical leadership.
TheCenter seeks to understand and promote ethics across the curriculum and within communities. We are committed to the preparation of students for personal and professional integrity, citizenship, and ethical leadership.
Building upon decades of successful prior work, the Center for Ethics, Character, and Civic Education grew out of two previous projects: the Bonner Center for Character and Civic Education, founded in 1997 by Professor Jacques Benninga and Fresno State’s Ethics Center founded in 2007 by Professor Andrew Fiala. Working with community partners and colleagues from across the campus, the new Center for Ethics, Character, and Civic Education was unveiled in 2019.
