Dr. Ruth Jenkins joined the English Department in 1988. Her teaching interests include nineteenth-century British literature as well as feminist and cultural theory. She has taught courses on Victorian literature, including major authors and genres, the spiritual crisis, empire, and children’s literature. She has also taught writing theory, adaptation, and critical and literacy theory.
She is author of Reclaiming Myths of Power: The Victorian Spiritual Crisis and Women Writers (Bucknell UP, 1995) and has published articles on British literature and culture, children’s literature, feminist, cultural, and writing theory in journals such as MELUS, Lion and the Unicorn, Children’s Literature Association Quarterly, Writing on the Edge, Weber Studies, English Language Notes, and the Minnesota Review.
