Steven Church holds an MFA from Colorado State University and he came to Fresno State in the Fall of 2006.
He is the author of The Guinness Book of Me: a Memoir, Theoretical Killings: Essays and Accidents, The Day After The Day After: My Atomic Angst, and a collection of essays titled Ultrasonic: Soundings, released in December 2014. He has a forthcoming book-length essay due out from Dzanc Books in 2016.
His work has been published in Terrain.org, River Teeth, Passages North, DIAGRAM, The Rumpus, Creative Nonfiction, Salon.com, Fourth Genre, and many others. His essay, "Auscultation," was chosen by Edwidge Danticat for inclusion in the 2011 Best American Essays.
Professor Church is a Founding Editor and Nonfiction Editor for the MFA Program's flagship literary magazine, The Normal School, and he serves as the James and Coke Hallowell Professor of Creative Writing (2014-16).
