MFA in Fiction

One of the great strengths of the fiction program at California State University, Fresno, is the diversity of its faculty and students, who come from different areas of the country and represent a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Great fiction programs are never homogeneous, but ours, we believe, is unusually varied.

Out of this mix of voices comes some very strong writing. Faculty members regularly publish their books with major publishers, including Doubleday, Knopf and Random House, and current and former students are also publishing widely, having signed book contracts with houses like FSG, Houghton Mifflin, Arte Publico, the University of Iowa Press, Washington Square Press and Heyday Books. It's an exciting time to be part of the fiction program at CSU, Fresno.

In recent years visitors to our program have included Jennifer Haigh, Ha Jin, Colm Toibin, Nanci Kincaid, Patricia Henley, Mary Yukari Waters, Edward Falco, Tobias Wolff, and Richard Ford.
