The end of the semester is fast approaching and along with it CCA is bringing the final details of Data & Technology to a close. We are extremely proud of our accomplishments and would like to extend a thank you to all those who worked with CCA to make this academic year a success. From the start of the fall semester with a lecture from Dr. Brian Croxall to welcoming our artist-in-residence Professor Delappe we have seen Data & Technology come to life.

We are very pleased to announce next year’s theme of Food & Water. A sharp turn from Data & Tech, we are excited to begin the programming for this promising theme.

Drone: A Participatory Memorial

For the entire academic year, the CCA team has been working tirelessly to bring artist-in-residence Joseph Delappe to Fresno State. During his residency, he completed a sculpture titled Drone: A Participatory Memorial which is featured on the West Lawn of the Conley Art Building. The artwork is a life-sized replica of a General-Atomics MQ-1 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. This installation was a collaborative process involving students and local community volunteers. We would like to give a special thank you to our two student interns Josephine Gildersleeve and Roe Borunda who worked closely with Delappe throughout his time at Fresno State. Upon completion of the sculpture, the names of civilian casualties were read aloud and inscribed on the sculpture in a public act of remembrance.

Professor Delappe’s sculpture will be featured at Fresno State until the end of May.

Again we would like to extend our gratitude to all of those who worked closely with CCA this year. To the students who attended our events to the dedicated staff who helped bring everything together this year was made possible due to all of you.
